Charlotte, NC (September 14, 2015) – Six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, announced today that the second annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Wellness Challenge, presented by Penn Mutual, has raised more than $300,000. Funds raised by the series of three events will support K-12 public schools through current Foundation programs.
The 9th Annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament, Presented by Lowe’s Raises an Event Record $900,000
The Jimmie Johnson Foundation announced today that its annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament and Dinner raised $900,000, an event record.
“This is such a great event,” said Johnson. “Chani (wife) and I are so thankful to everyone that supports us and to sponsors like Lowe’s, that believe in supporting the vision of the Foundation. We are excited that the Foundation can continue funding projects that address critical needs in K-12 public schools.”
Today, during a Google+ Hangout, Jimmie Johnson along with Mike Wells, President and CEO of Wells Enterprises, maker of Blue Bunny Ice Cream, revealed the Blue Bunny Helmet of Hope to the five charities that are featured on the helmet. Johnson will wear the helmet this weekend during the Pocono 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, where his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet will feature a special Jimmie Johnson Foundation paint scheme.
