Founders

Chandra and Jimmie Johnson launched the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in 2006, with a mission to assist children, families, and communities in need throughout the United States. The Foundation’s current priority is supporting K-12 public schools in North Carolina through our Champions Grant program.  Champions Grants are awarded to help schools address their most critical needs.  Since its inception, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation has contributed more than $13.3 million to public schools and non-profit organizations that align with our mission.

Chandra Janway Johnson is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in business communication and moved to New York City where she began a modeling career with Wilhelmina. Chandra currently owns and runs the Southern Comfort Gallery (SOCO) which is a contemporary art space and bookshop based in Charlotte, North Carolina with a new project space in New York City.

Jimmie Johnson was born in El Cajon, California. The California native began racing motorcycles at the age of five. Upon graduating from high school, he moved to the Midwest to continue his auto racing career. Johnson is a 7-time NASCAR Champion is a co-owner and part-time driver for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

Chandra and Jimmie have two daughters, Genevieve and Lydia.
