CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 24, 2006) – The Jimmie Johnson Foundation will mark its first anniversary with a special commemorative t-shirt designed by Chandra and Jimmie Johnson in collaboration with a team of designers from the Levi Strauss Signature® brand.
“It has been amazing to watch my sponsors step to the plate to help with the foundation,” said Johnson, 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion and co-founder of the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. “These t-shirts will be instrumental in spreading the word about the foundation. Our goal is to sell all of the t-shirts and raise over $100,000 for the foundation.”
The white t-shirt features the foundation logo on the front and the foundation mission statement on the back. The foundation is dedicated to assisting children, families and communities in need. The Levi Strauss Signature® brand donated 10,000 shirts to the foundation to help generate funds and awareness. To celebrate the unveiling, the first 10 XL t-shirts purchased through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation website will be autographed by Johnson.
The t-shirt will be introduced at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway media lunch at Hendrick Motorsports today, and will be available for purchase for $15 on the Jimmie Johnson Foundation website (www.jimmiejohnsonfoundation.org) and at the Hendrick Motorsports Team Store in Charlotte. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will help fund Johnson’s Victory Lanes, the four lane bowling alley currently under construction at the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The foundation is more than halfway to meeting its $600,000 fundraising goal for the project.
